Default 17" ET Streets

Tried doing a search, but came up nil.

Is there more than one option for a 17" ET Street?

Is the stock front C5 rim wide enough?

I found the MT ET Street 17", it has a 9.5" tread width, but it looks like an 11" wide wheel is suggested.

The other one I found is a radial, 275 40R17, which is probably what people are running?

You can use 9 1/2 x 17, ZO6 front wheels for ET Streets and the Drag radials. You may be thinking of BFG drag radials using 11" wheels.

Take a look here:
http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.html

Notice the fine print about rim width at the very bottom. It says:

Acceptable practice for rim width is tread width plus or minus 1 inch. All dimensions @ 10 psi cold on measuring rim.

The tread width is 9.5 inches.

The 17" ET Street will never fit on an 11" wheel, it just barely fits on a 9.5" wheel. The ideal wheel size would be the smaller 9" wheel.

This makes sense to me, I can't see out a tread width of 9" would need an 11" rim, but I have no experience with slicks.

Are these a good option for street/strip performance for an MN6 with 4.10 gears and about 550rwhp?

I am looking to add a 125 or 150 shot to my cam only setup plus a 4.10 gear set. Would these tires have enough grip?

Most of the guys at that power level are running the MT 26x11.50-16 with CCW wheels. I think even the 9 second cars are running this tire.

You have to be careful at that power level as if you have too much grip you are liable start breaking driveline components.

Another interesting choice is the recently re-released Racemaster tires. I wonder if any of the C5 guys have tried these yet? They offer several 16" sizes, two of them are 28" tall:
