Default caliper rebuild

I'm getting some 2001 C5 calipers to do the conversion on my C4 & I was wondering if I should rebuild them before I put them on. If so can someone tell me where to get a rebuild kit at a good price from? And has anyone done this?

Thanks

Jim

Default Caliper rebuild kits

Local dealer price is $21.85, gmpartsdirect $9.50, Fitchener Chev $12.50. I know that Fitchener gives excellent service but gmpartsdirect does not. Part # for front kit is 12530686, includes new bolts. Use compressed air at the fluid inlet to blow out the pistons. If your calipers aren't leaking, I don't see a reason to rebuild them, except for peace of mind.

GM kits come with all the parts and are inexpensive peace of mind in my opinion. Also lets you clean them out and verify that are in good shape. I got mine from a forum vendor.

They more than likely do not need it. But I rebuild any caliper I buy used or after I powdercoat them.
