I went out to Milan about a week ago. My 383 stroker (stock bore) ran strong. Consistant 117 mph 1/4 mile with a best time of 11.700. 60 ft 1.68 with the MT's. For some reason I think a 383 stock bore should run lower 1/4 mile times. I'm wondering if the LS6 heads, (with the bigger valves), I had CNC'd might cause some loss of power, be it HP or torque. With the cam listed below along with all the other mods, any recommedations, comments or ideas from personal experience? I've been told that my setup is about 7 tenths shy of what it should be.
Thanks
Ken
That does seem a little off for a 383. The cam is pretty healty. In my opinion I would raise the compression a bit. What did the car dyno? What were the track conditions.. ?
Dyno numbers on a Mustang Dyno were pretty low. 358.6 HP @ 6600 RPM & 315.2 LBs of torque @ 5000 RPM. A/F not available. Track was perfect IMO
Thanks,
Ken
Forgot 22 to 24 degrees of timing @ WOT
Acually the cars pulling more horses than what the numbers indicate. Higher stalls show lower numbers if the dyno isn't set correctly. According to calculations my horsepower at the tires is about 420. Compression ratio is 10.8 to 1
