while cleaning my engine bay today I noticed something odd, (bear with me where, my digital camera is with my parents so im going to do my best to describe it!)
Its on the drivers side of the air filter assembly - its a hose about 2 inches in diameter and its coming up from what looks like the front bumper. it then makes a u-turn back down about 3 inches, then has a rubber gasket on the end like its supposed to go somewhere or plug into something, but its just laying there - sitting next to the filter. ive put about 200 miles on the car since ive owned it. I hope I havent done any damage or is this hose just supposed to be here?
That is the air source for the electric air pump.Should plug into the side of the air filter housing. Some just let it hang if they have an aftermarket air intake setup
Sounds like the AIR pump hose that plugs into the driver's side of the air filter intake box but that's not 2" in diameter - I'd say more like an inch or so. It plugs into the intake so that it sucks in filtered air. The AIR pump only works for the first couple of minutes when you start the car cold. It's for emissions purposes and blows fresh air into the exhaust manifolds to lean the initial exhaust gases out.
