Default Quick question on exhaust manifolds.

Are the 2000+ C5 manifolds the same as the 2001+ ZO6 manifolds? Thanks.

I actually posted my experiences a while back, in the hope someone would do a search.. But it probably wouldn’t come up with the way things are on the board anyway.

I was told over and over about how the 2001+ was different than the 1997-2000.

What I found was 2000 is an "odd" year. They changed the location of the A.I.R. tubes from 97-99, and different again from 2001-up.

I successfully bolted up a set of 2002 Z06 H-pipes to my stock 2000 manifold. So in that respect 2000 is the same as 2001+.

If you see a "deal" on some headers, and they are for a 2001-up, I'd go for it, and just adjust for the A.I.R. tube location issues. You can always buy the 2001+ A.I.R. tubes and retrofit your car, if necessary. They aren't that expensive at all.

As Dan said, 2000 was an odd year. 97 - 99 and early 2K manifolds were stainless steel with round ports. The air tube connection on the passenger side is on the #7 port. It's not he best design in that all the tubes merge together in the center. They were also longer with a different collector bolt pattern than the later ones.
01 and up are cast iron, shorter and kind of tri-Y. They have "D" shaped ports. The air tube is between the # 5 and #3 ports. They are about 8-1q0 lbs heavier than the SS. Later 2K manifold shared some characteristics of both. You can use the later ones if you change the H pipe but then you will have PUPs. Probably more than you wanted to know but what the heck.. :-). - C.

But just to clarify.. A 2000 H-Pipe will fit a 2001-up stock header, without modifications.

Do the 2001+ manifolds flow better? I remember reading about a member switching to longtubes from his ZO6 manifolds and only gaining a peak of approximately 5rwhp. I'm sure the longtubes had more area under the curve.

Dan,
Not the early ones. I have two friends with 2000's and they have the same set up as my 99. - C.

Well, that's probably where all the confusion comes in.. My car is not what you would call a "late" one, seeing how I don’t have the air bag disable switch. But who knows when they changed. I guess it's the luck of the draw..
