ls1 and ls6 blocks

It is my understanding that during the 2001 model year ls1 blocks became the same as ls6 blocks. Is this true for ls1 blocks that came out of f-body cars?

Not so much that they became LS6 blocks so much as that they started using the LS6 block in f and y bodies that got the LSx about mid-year 2001.

the pcv system is still ls1 style.

Yes. The PCV system was of the LS1 flavor on the LS1 motors. The LS6 got it's on PCV setup. In fact, I changed my '02 PCV system over to the LS6 configuration just a couple of months ago. In the shot below, you can see that my block is an LS6 casting by the telltale lack of the casting boss inside the valley. The pic below it is of an LS1. The boss is next to the 2nd top valley bolt hole.

The LS6 Block was also used on the F body cars 2001 and newer (after a certian build date that I forget)
