Have been doing research on the issue and the Dealer mechanic that is rebuilting my tranny for the second time stated there was a service bulletin concerning the "shift forks" that called for a steel replacement. I'll try to get the service bulletin number from them but thought i'd post on the forum to see if anyone had it.
The transmission went in because of grinding going into second and sixth gear as well as popping out of gear. Upon disassembly it was found that all the gears and synro's need to be replaced. The dealer rebuilt it and after 8,000 miles the problem re-occured. They have it back again...
Apparently this is a issue that is well known and even caused the c-6 production line to shut down for a couple days. Time for GM to take a hard look. Is a recall in order ???
