I was wondering if the NGK plugs and Taylor Spiro-Pro wires mentioned in this article provide any noticeable performance increase over stock? Currently, I have about 42K miles on the original plugs. My car is basically stock (only mods being a Blackwing intake and probably adding a cat-back exhaust in spring.) Would it be worth it to change the plugs/wires?

You may want to change the plugs if they are original as there is a very good chance that some of the plugs (if they are Delco) have lost the platinum insert on the bottom elctrode. This causes wide gaps and short plug life.
The stock wires are quite good and new wires won't have a performance gain on stock wires in good shape. Having said that you still may want to get a new set of wires. If the wires haven't been off in 5 years you make break some getting them off.
A good replacement plug is the NGK TR55IX. They have very long life and excellent combustion characteristics due to their very small profile in the combustion chamber.
just another FYI I did the wire swap recently and just for my own info I checked each plug and wire as I removed them....using an ohm meter I checked each wire and found all but 1 to be in good shape..never could tell while the car was running...but I would say it probably time for a new set
I put a new set of Taylors on because I pulled the stock wire apart trying to get it off the infamous left rear plug. I didn't see any performance improvement, but they sure look better.
I did the exact thing a few days ago. I broke one wire taking them off and found another one corroded. I replaced them with the Taylor 409 wires and replaced the plugs with the NGK TR55IX. I think it runs so much better, and even has more pickup and go. I guess that's because my wires were all messed up. I say go for it.
