rear window defog fail

Default rear window defog fail

2000 vert. rear window defog not working. The switch light comes on, heat dosen't. Fuse is ok. Anyone had this problem? Could not find any C5 vert. threads on this subject.

This may help... the defog is a closed loop circuit,,, kind of like a toaster with the eliments glowing.. if you break or scratch any part of the window circuit and break the continuity,. the defog will fail.. a careful examination of the window may reveal a scratch... a simple solution to this problem is a bottle of copper touch up paint designed for this purpose , found at any auto supply.. just apply some of this copper paint to complete the broken circuit.,.. this may or may not be your problem..

I took your advice and inspected the element a little closer and found an open spot near the passenger side connection. Its fixed! Thanks alot for the tip.

there is a rear defroster on these cars wow never knew that .and i will never use it ! never that cold when i drive her

Great tech tip Evil-Twin. I didn't know they made the copper stuff you mentioned for this kind of repair. I'll remember this bit of info.

Some of us real american males have , on occassion, fogged up a rear window or two... , and there was nothing "COLD" about it...
rear defoggers have their place in the back row of your local drive-in theater
