Does anyone know the part # of the absorbent glass mat battery from GM. I hear they put one in the C5 after 2000 but I called my dealer and get 3-4 different part#'s. I think the 04 is even a top post. I have the IC Mag and can't use an Optima or anything with with top posts.

I Purchased A Interstate Maintenance Free Acid Battery For My C5. It Has Side Posts And Is More Powerpull And More Cold Cranking Amps Than The Original Delco. I Have Heard Alot About The Optima Red Tops But Also Alot Of Bad Stuff. Just Like The Original Delco Gel Battery. Alot Of Shops Around Me Stopped Selling The Optima Batteries. How Many Bad Stories Do You Hear About Sears Diehard Or Interstate Or Other Proven Long Term Reliable Batteries. Gm Saw Nothing Wrong With Side Post Delco Batteries Until They Had Trouble With Them. Than Since They Had To Use Delco Went To Gel Delco's. More Junk. I Read About Optima's Dying As Well As Delco Gel. I Have Several Friends Who Use And Recommend The Interstate Batteries. I Have Had No Problems And Also Get Better Volt Readings In My Dic Once I Switched.
For what its worth, I have had very good luck with Interstate batteries as well. Most of the comparitive testing I have seen rates them very high. I am planning to take my car cross country next summer, and don't plan on doing so with the factory AGM in place so I will be looking for another battery as well.
I have a Y2K C5 with the original battery. The car has 15000 miles on it. In the summer, I drive the car on the weekend. In the New York winter I drive the car maybe every two weeks. Twice the battery died on me when I went to start it. Both times in the winter when the car sat for 3 weeks. I dont think it's a bad battery.
do any of you guys that are having battery problem running a 25% reduced ASP underdrive pulley?

The battery running low after 3 weeks is normal. I was told you can minimize the drain by turning the SecurityLock feature on the radio OFF if you've enabled it, and not locking the doors (enables the security system). The theory is both those security modules drain enough current to run the battery down a few weeks sooner than if they're not on. To avoid this I just hook the battery to a Deltran Battery Tender.
Also, your original 2K battery (I have a 2K C5 as well) should be checked often for leaking acid out of the positive terminal. I would check mine often for any leaks without any, but all of a sudden it leaked after 2 years and Chevy replaced it. The foam liner around the stock battery made it hard to see if anything was leaking, but this is known problem with the terminal snapping (defective) and then leaking.
