Default How bad is this for the engine?

After having a 90mm TB & intake setup installed, the Vette Docs tuned the car. Now at startup the RPM's go directly up to 2,000 for a few seconds before settling down at 800 RPM. Being that the car sits for days at a time, the oil drips back into the pan. At initial startup, how much oil can the cylinders be getting, especially at such a high RPM level when cold? This must b causing some wear. Is a pre-oiler necesssary and where do I get one, if needed?

I would just have them fix so it doesn't do that.

That's easily fixed by the tuner. Reduce cold-start rpm.

I was under the assupmtion that the high RPM's were necessary so as to not stall out the car when cold. It literally shoots up to 2 grand for only a short second or two. So is this not a result of the larger TB & intake?

No, it is not normal and can be fixed. Had the same problem and they fixed it in 30 min .

I had the same issue after head/cam install due to some generic mail order tuning of my PCM so we went into Edit and changed the low temp startup engine rpm to more reasonable levels. The tuner had basically scaled that table with a single value. It was winter so the temps were low enough to cause the PCM to use the table's lower cell values which were in the 2000 rpm range. Once the engine starts warming, it settles down but you don't want the engine to race when it's in it's most vulnerable condition. Talk to your tuner- this is one of those adjustments they expect to make after an initial tune.
