Default Leaking Clitch Fluid

Well this is not how I wanted to start out my "vette" ownership experience. On 15 Oct I took delivery of used 1999 C5 coupe with 70k on the odometer, it has been raining here in Norhtern California since Sunday hence I've only the car once, and that was Monday. Yester day I tried to drive the car to the post office to drop off a package, while sitting at a stop light the clutch pedal stuck to the floor and the clutch remained engaged. Luckily I was only about 2 miles from my house and managed to limp back unable to disengage the clutch the entire time. Of course the first thing I checked was the fluid level in the reservoir, and of course it was all gone, so I replenished it and the clutch finally disengaged itself. The fluid seemed to have come out of a small hole ( weep hole maybe ) just behind the oil pan, so again today I tried to drive the car around the block and this time when I started the car up the clutch pedal again stuck to the floor with the clutch engaged, I just managed to shut the car off before it ran into the house. Underneath the car again is a puddle of brake fluid, so what kind of repair (clutch slave cylinder maybe ) am I looking at, I've been driving import sport cars since 1995, as you can imagine this is leaving a sour taste in my mouth.

Sounds like clutch slave actuator. I'm replacing mine right now (97 Coupe). Big job but thanks to forum members(extra thanks to Patches) It's going well. I am going with all Z06 components in my lightly modified 97. My symptoms were identical.

No bitterness though, I love everything about the C5! Can't wait to drive it this weekend!

Hey copperflight, I did a search and saw thread that mentioned a TSB and VME (whatever that is) about this subject matter.

Don't know about VME but I believe TSB is a "Technical Service Bulletin". I tried to get one from dealer but all they gave me was a printout on the procedure to replace all the components. Helpful but not what I requested, helped in my decision not to let them touch my vette. By the way, they quoted about $1800+ to do the job parts and all. I've heard of it being done for less. Much less if you do it yourself. Definitely do the clutch and all associated parts while your there. With 70K your probably close to due for it anyways if it hasn't been done yet.

I got an estimate of $1100 today from the local dealer, $990 for labor and $150 for the slave cylinder.

does that include clutch pressure plate, disc and flywheel?
You don't want to do this again for awhile so replace that stuff even if it's working today, unless you have some really high dollar clutch setup in there. I got my z06 parts from GMPARTSDIRECT.COM the clutch kit includes pressure plate, disc and new flywheel for $314 and the clutch actuator/throwout bearing and master cylinder were $86 each. My clutch was working well, my only issue was the leaking actuator. I don't want to do this job again at least for another 70 or 80 thousand miles.
