Default how the heck?

ok I have searched the forums and found squat. How do you go about replacing a head light motor, specificaly how do I gain access to the bolts that hold it on? the old motor wont lift the headlight and the **** will not lift it. Is there some trick to getting the bucket raised?

Thanks in advance

BTW is there some way to stop an order with the forum bookstore, they have backordered my repair manuals with no eta.

Are you turning the **** counter-clockwise? That is the correct direction.

Can you lift up on the front of the headlight assembly and rotate it upwards? Sounds like the gear is shot with no teeth engaging so there is nothing grabbing to pull the headlight up. Also, can you hear the motor run when you try and raise the headlights using the switch in the car?

Does the **** turn in both directions..???
there are three bolts for the motor and a lift linkage bolt..
to access these bolts you have to remove the three screws that hold the black plastic bezel around the headlights...

If the **** wont raise the light, the gears may be stripped. Like it was mentioned above pull up on the front or push on the back of the headlight cover while turning the **** to see if you can get the gears to catch.

I took my motor out in 15 minutes.. you do not have to remove all thats stuff as depicted in the above link..
just unplug the harness remove the three mounting screws,, 8mm.
and remove the center linkage screw ( 8mm ) take note as to the position of the linkage.

Thanks for the help guys got it done last night, E.T. if you can do that in 15 min my hat is off to you took me 2 hours. The nimrod that had the car before me had busted the cover and the support bracket trying to open the door, btw a screw driver can be used to get the lift arm past bottom dead center and start the bucket up this allowed me to get the bucket up without damaging the plastic any more.

Does anyone know where I can get a new cover and the plastic bracket that goes under it (black would be nice). I epoxied it all for temp use untill i can get the parts and have them painted.

Again thanks for all the help

Of course I was able to lift my headlight assy to the up position..then its just three screws for the bezel , then three mounting screws for the motor, and one for the lift linkage , and unplug the harness. and its out.
