Lucky enough to have come upon a new Fidenza flywheel cheap and wondering if I should install it in my 04 CE Vert. Anyone have words of wisdom/experience with this? Really interested in the pros & cons of this swap.
Is driveability affected? Understand that the motor should RPM quiker due to lighter mass which is great but what about just driving around? Thanks.
What a great peice fidanza makes. I love my flywheel to death and any other manual car will get this kind of flywheel. Yes there is some chatter. It takes a little while to get used to but the pick up on performance is amazing. The RPM's build so much faster. Cars with more engine mods than mine have a hard time pulling on me, I think it is due to the flywheel. Normal driving is fine. Deffinetly do this mod. You wont regret it.
Ive heard not too difficult. I had a shop do my clutch and flywheel. This winter when I step up to a stage 2 clutch I will do it all myself. Ill let you know in a couple of months. HEHEHE

Yes the motor will rev faster....in nuetral, but under load the difference is negligible. A few pounds decrease in flywheel mass just won't make any real difference in performance...you have to compare those few pounds saved to the frictional forces and total rotating mass of the drivetrain and car. Your kidding yourself if you think a flywheel change will make your car as fast as cars with real performance mods....just a cam change will make a real rwhp gain...save your flywheel $$$ and buy a real performance mod......also light flywheels chatter alot making stop and go driving a PITA. I junked my aluminum flywheel and Spec iii in favor of the lightened and small diameter Exedy twin disk clutch. Its 5 lbs LIGHTER than the stock unit and has a very light steel flywheel and much smaller rotating mass. Shifting speed is considerably faster than the old aluminum flywheel/Spec III combo.....and no chatter.
Hey bud no need to bash or anything. But Im not kidding myself. If I was Corvette Fever would have never done an article on the flywheel and said that on a STOCK Z06 it made 5rwhp more and made peek horsepower in 9seconds instead of 13seconds. Please tell me 4 seconds making the horsepower to the ground does nothing. Ill look for the issue and maybe you have a subscription yourself and you can check the facts.
MTI with one the mags., printed a good article on the Spec. aluminum setup about two months ago. "On a stock Z06, the 0-150 time was reduced by three seconds."
I would agree, having road raced with both the stock flywheel and the aluminum flywheel.
made peek horsepower in 9seconds instead of 13seconds. Please tell me 4 seconds making the horsepower to the ground does nothing.
Not bashing here......but what are you talking about here?? What are those numbers measured against? A 5rwhp gain is less than 1.5% !!! This is not a a substantial performance gain for the cost. A cam change will net 30rwhp for a few more $$$.... but if you feel 5rwhp made a huge gain in performance..... great.
Hes getting a good price on it so why not. Sure do the cam too, it only helps even more. As for exceedy, nice peices but lots of dough but im sure thats not a problem seeing your mods.
