Default DCM Problems

I need some help diagnosing and fixing what I think is a dead left door control module.

Symptoms: No lights on driver's side door controls; no buttons work on driver's side; code for LDCM reads "NO COMM"; checked both fuses for LDCM in passenger footwell and they are OK; fast relay-like "clicking" sound from under the dash behind the middle vent; passenger's side controls work great-no problems.

My guess is the LDCM is dead, but if anyone disagrees I'd love to hear any advice before I replace the part.

OK now the good stuff: where is the LDCM located and how much of a pain is it to replace? Could anyone here give me a quick rundown on what to do or how to get to it?

Thanks!

Jeff

Do a search. You probably have a broken wire in the bundle that runs through the tube that runs between the door and the door post. Or you have a bad ground in the same area.
Search for electrical problems.

The connector that connects the outside of the door wiring harness to the inside of the door can come loose. I would check that first! Then check all of the connectors inside the door Then take the door pannel off and the DCM is mounted on the door frame about where the arm rest is.
What do your DIC codes say. Please read the codes and post any error codes. Clear the codes and see if they come back!!! The LDCM and RDCM are monitored components!

Thanks Bill, I'll try checking that out tonight. Do you know where the other end of the plug on the LDCM is? Should it be plugged in to that module beside the passenger fusebox?

Oh and there are no codes for the LDCM - when you get to that in the Diagnostic Mode it just says, "LDCM: NO COMM" just like the radio does if you have an aftermarket one installed.

Thanks again, I've tried searching but haven't found anything too useful

There are TWO plugs/connectors housed inside of the corrogated tube between the door and the body. My recommendation would be to look there first.
