Pulling apart the stock system preparing for my header installation (QTP Tir-Y's). I have unplugged the O2 sensors, but have been struggling with the removal of the front O2 plug from where it is attached to the frame of the car. Is there a trick to removing it from the frame or do you somehow remove the little grey piece that is in the frame from the plug itself?
Thanks for any help, I'm sure more dumb questions are to follow as I progress with this installation
I've had my motor out three times now and I've broken both of the little gray pieces. I can't remember exactly how the gray piece attaches to the O2 sensor plug, but I remember it being a complete PITA to get them off. Neither one survived all three removals.
I still have the part of the gray piece that sticks into the frame and I have my O2 sensor plugs zip tied to the gray piece to hold them in place.
Good luck with yours and sorry I can't remember exactly how they attach to the plugs.
Come on now Vettenuts don't leave us in the dark, how did you get it out? I'm getting ready to put on headers and will be going through the same thing.
I actually left the grey piece in the frame. If you look closely at the grey piece attached to the black plug, you will see that if you carefully pry the two apart near the opening of the plug, the black plug will slide off of the grey piece holding to the frame. I got one done last night, and found there is a tab holding the grey on just like when you disconnect any electrical connection on the car. I sure hope this makes sense
