Can I do this with a Hypertech programmer or do I have to do some kind of custom program? Going from 2.73 to 3.42 A4 car. Can I drive the car after the gear change without the speedo correction, will the speedo be the only problem or will the shift points be off, anything else? Thanks
Matt
Unlike F-Bodies, the C5 is a unique animal when it comes to MPH detecting. Because of this, there is no speedo error when changing rear axle ratios - across the board on all C5's.
Although changes in rear tire heigth will affect the speedo calibration.
Well, you don't need programming to correct the speedo, But if you go to MikeMercury's page on the link he posted, you will see several other reasons you do need programming.

And no, the Hypertech won't do the necessary gear scaling for the change from 2.73s to 3.42s.
