Default Headlight motor keeps running

What causes a headlight motor to keep running for roughly 15 seconds after the lights go down? It's the left side only. Lights go up and down evenly but the left continues to run in the down mode. Thanks in advance to any and all replies.

as an added note....try not to move the **** any more than possible after you get it in the UP position...if you get it to far down it MAY cause you problems popping up....

and make sure you turn off your lights while doing this repair

whole thing start to finish about an hour...small hands and a 1/4 inch drive ratchet are good to have

Mine did the exact same thing on the drivers side. I bought new ones for each side from the dealer and installed them and no more issues. It has to do with the gear teeth inside the motor according to what I could find in here.
