Default Active handling warming???

Took my 2004 C5 out the other day. It was about 30F outside. I had already been driving for a while. Stopped for about 20 mins and went out to leave. When I started it, the display said "active handling warming" then after 3 seconds said "now ready".

What is actually going on there? I was surprised it happened later than when I first started the car in the morning.

Anyone know what this is?

This is from the Corvette Action Center website

"During the 1998 model year, just prior to production of cars with the Active Handling option, the Corvette's ABS brake hydraulic control unit will be relocated to the front of the engine compartment to facilitate quicker Active Handling system "warm-up" and shorten front brake response time when the brake fluid is cold. In temperatures below 14oF, the Corvette's Driver Information Center (DIC) will display an "Active Handling Warming Up" message as soon as the vehicle reaches 6-mph. That's a caution to the driver that Active Handling is not fully-functional yet. As soon as the system warms up, another message "Active Handling Warmed Up" will be sent to the driver via the DIC."

I've received this warning in Florida and it definitely wasn't cold at the time. It doesn't happen often though. I have a 2002 coupe.

Its happened to me a couple of times. I am not too concerned, it goes away in a few seconds.

Sometimes for unknown reasons this will happen when the car is parked with the wheels turned. I've had the sam emessages from time to time but have never been concerned.
I'm sure you'll be ok with it.

I've also had the active handling warming up message at the top of the drag strip after lifting at 115-120 mph. That one seems really strange, but before I even do the turn out off the strip the "Warm up Complete" message appears. I'm guessing that one is the sudden lift at that speen and the decel while still in 4th gear.

Anyway, what you are seeing is nothing to be concerned about. As long as you see the "Warm up Complete" Many of us have had it happen.

It's even discussed in the owner's manual.
