Well now it's official, on 11/7/04 My 00 C5 Coupe ran in the nines at the Byron Dragway! It seems that just one year ago I was getting my FLP LS1 stock block set up to run 10.88 @ 126 at the very same dragstrip. That motor had 370 runs and 26,000 street miles on it so Dan Bills at FLP designed a 427 C.I. C5R blower motor and had Midwest Engine Tech bulid it. The new motor went in late in March 04. The racetronics fuel system I had ran out of fuel at 5000RPM. Dr. Bills designed, built and installed a new fuel system to handle the new motor. The A & A pulley system could only hold the 17.5 lbs. of boost to 5800RPM. Dr. Bills reworked Andys' system so the belt would not slip and the testing began. Next thing to go was the 9" 4100stall TC in went a 10" 3100 stall TC. After 3 outings to the dragstrip and some Dr. Bills MAGIC my car dynoed 725+ RWHP with a MILD tunup.
This weekend after adjusting MY LEARNING CURVE I ran 9.95 @ 129MPH with an 1/8th mile of 6.40 @ 112MPH, the 60' was 1.547 from a dead idle launch! I HAD TO LIFT at least 40 yards from the finish line as I RAN OUT OF 3RD GEAR. My tires ET Streets are only 26" tall and with a 4.10 gear I got down the track a bit to fast for my setup.
WAY TO GO DAN & CHUCK AT FLP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
JR
Dr. Bills thinks that with a little tweeking, taller tires, and a bit more agressive launch my car will run 9.60's - .70's easily.

CONGRATS that is AWESOME!!! And to think at the same track, on the same weekend and with my 427 C5R N/A motor making at least 225 less rwhp than you, that i couldn't even keep my drivetrain (Rear end) together on my second launch. I guess some of us have luck at the drags and some don't!!! But i know how long and how dedicated you have been to get to where you finally got and man it takes alot of trial and error, $, patience, and a TOP TUNER like Dan Bills and Chuck Johnson at FLP!!!!
CONGRATS againt to YOU AND FLP!!!!

I was in your shoes last year in Sept. shooting for the 10's at Byron
when my tranny went BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! to the tune
of $2000.
The really sad part is that after I broke, a Mustang towed me back to my trailer - do you know how humiliating that is????????????????????
