Header install and valve covers
I am helping a buddy do a header/x-pipe/cat install this weekend. The instructions call for removing one of the valve covers.
Do I need to be worried about changing the valve cover gasket? I have done a lot of work on Gen I blocks and they have always leaked around the valve covers. Will the RTV cause any damage to sensors (O2, MAP, EGR)?

No problem when doing mine and no leaks since. Just pull up carefully to make sure there is no adhesion anywhere and all should go well with no RTV needed. Good Luck with the install.
