Default High performance tire question......

I'm looking to upgrade my shoes since I seem to be overwhelming my Nitto radials. I'm going sideways when I give it decent throttle. I see that Nitto makes a drag radial and Pirelli has a PZero Corsa in the 285/35/18 size that I'm looking to run. The Nitto's list at $300 and the Pirellis list for $400 each. Also would I have to change the front tires or can I leave the Nitto extreme Zr's, they have less than 10K miles on them. The car is driven 99% of the time on the street on fair weather days. Are these my best options for achieving maximum dry grip on a street driven car? I'm more interested in straight line traction and I don't autocross at all. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Don't worry about fronts vs rear-go with the Nitto RII's which have a hard sidewall and soft compound. Handling is not compromised, but wear is-well so is traction!

Default check these

Check the Pirelli Pzero Corsa competition tire on tirerack.com. The 285/30/18s are on sale for 175 bucks for a pair. I run these on the front and 315/30/18s on the rear. I bought all four tires for 764 shipped. Very good traction, supposed to be good on a wet track but there is a warning about driving them in heavy rain because they come with only 6/32 tread, although I think the warning really applies more to the shaved version of the tire.

Pretty scary that the PZero Corsa's run $175 each for the 285/30/18's and $400 each for the 285/35/18's!!!! Doesn't sound too kosher to me..

Default here you are

Easy enough to find out if it is Kosher. Go to tirerack.com and look them up, they are still on sale.

They are very low profile!! Factory was 26.6 (R/F's), I'm now running 26.1, and those are 24.9 and 25.5 f/r!! Great price though!!

Any pics on your car...?

30's are a bit lower than I wanted to go for a street driven vehicle but the additional cost of the 35's are insane.

The 30s are cheaper because they're just trying to get rid of them, think of it as a clearance.

How much of a difference is there between the 30's and the 35's? I wanted to keep the 255/40/17's up front and only change the rear. I am wondering if it pays to swap them now?

Default May not work well

I am not sure a 285/30/18 on rear would be good with 245/45/17 on the front. Your front tire would be almost an inch taller than your rear.

No the front's are the Nitto Extreme Zr's in 255/40/17 sizes but I still would rather go with 285/35/18's out back like my current setup rather than 30's.

As a street radial goes I am perfectly happy with the Nitto 555's. If I am going to change them it would have to be for a drag radial/race tire for the street.
