i'm looking for a low profile jack to fit right under my vette, which is lowered slightly. don't want to use ramps, or the wood two buys. just want to start jacking, if there is a jack out there please reply
thanks
There is a forum member named Frederik who works for Daimler-Chrysler in Germany who has sold a few hundred very small jacks to forum members for $50 each. They are made by D-C, fit in the center storage compartment and really work well (I have one). I can't find the thread on this, but perhaps someone else has it handy or you can find it. Sorry I can't be of more specific help.
Try www.Homier.com, same jack for $79.95 and Harbor Freight makes a mini sized 1.5 ton for 89.95. Get BMW E36 jacking pucks from an aftermarket vendor $25.00 and leave them in. Never worry about cracking the plastic.

Stay away from this jack.. the cheap harbor freight jack has cause some serious injuries and is now in product liability litigation.. I got it on good authority from a friend inside harbor freight. I have seen other post on other forums about people who have been injured, the saddle on this cheaper jack has been known to crack in half..
Costco now has their low profile jacks on sale. They have their aluminum one on sale as we speak. I convinced the wife that it was a must have item. All she could say was how pretty it was.
Never use an aluminum jack as a main jack. They are for ease of transportion/race track use (changing tires and stuff occasionally).
Get the AC Hydraulics low profile jacks if you want a serious jack. They make short and long frame 3" tall jacks. They are fairly big bucks but are the ultimate.
I picked up an aluminum jack with a 3-3/4 in height at Sears for 120. I love it. My car is not lowered, but that should be low enough. It is the same as the one they have for $199 except that it only lifts 3000lbs vs 4000 for the more expensive one. It is a pretty nice floor jack. Here is a link

I'm certainly not saying there haven't been any problems, but I have
2 of them, and Alan has one, they seem quite study and reasonably well made for stuff coming from the far east.
Also, Harbor Freight has "welding magnets" that make great jacking pucks. Really cheap, about $5. The magnet is so strong it has stayed on for several HPDE events when I "just forgot" to take it off.
