EMT flat repair
As soon as I started the car the DIC kept telling me that the right rear tire was flat (also reduced handling, MAX Spd 55MPH, etc.)....anyway I am fortunate that there is a Goodyear Tire Store less than a mile from house. So, I drove the Vette over and they were able to patch/plug the tire IAW Goodyear/GM specs (they took special care not to scratch the wheel, etc., they know me and they know what a "nut" I am -- and I told the tech, in advance, that I would give him an excellent tip to ensure the wheel was treated with care). After remounting the wheel/tire, I then re-started the car, and the tire pressure monitor readings read perfectly for each tire and I was off on my way.
My question: in the future, if I find I have another flat (i.e. discover it in my garage) does removing the wheel/tire and taking just the wheel/tire to the Goodyear Store for repair affect the tire pressure transmitter in the wheel? In other words, after they repair it, will I have to re-train the sensor since it taken away (a mile or so) from the car's computer? Some have said that if your sensor goes more than 25 ft from the car you will have to re-train your sensor system. Or will the system work properly (as long as I don't start the car while it's sitting without the wheel...wondering where the sensor is) After all, I would prefer to just take the wheel/tire over for repair rather than chance the tire store from lifting the Vette improperly, etc.
Anyone have any experience in this? Thanks!

The pressure sensors actually quit transmitting when the car is not in motion. That's why you get the blank reading on tire pressure until you drive for a block or two.
Will be no problem.

Personally, I retrain the sensors just because I don't trust the installer to do it right.

Love that horn chirp.

I also had the same problem recently and took just the tire/wheel in to be fixed, when I remounted the wheel it displayed the low pressure, now I'm sure if I would have let it sit for a while or driven the car it would have started to register just fine but instead I did the relearn procedure and in just a couple minutes I was all set to go.
However, if the car has sat for more than a couple minutes the data you will be looking at in the DIC is OLD. The sensors and receivers only work while the tires are in motion, or have just been in motion. Otherwise we'd be replacing the batteries in the sensors at about every oil change.
