Default Trunk Shocks

I will be adding quite a few pounds to the deck lid of my '99 'vert and the stock shocks barely lift it up enough to pry it open now so i really need to get stronger ones does anybody have any idea where and how much $ to get some stronger trunk shocks? Any help is greatly welcomed

Thanx in advance,
Prime

Check out Suspa. Should be less than $100 for a pair.

The vert trunk lid not opening far enough to get your fingers under it to open is a fairly common problem. There have been many threads here on this topic in the past and you may be able to find a number of them using the Forum search feature. Too, as stated in many of these threads, you may find your problem is connected more so to the deck lid latch and spring than the struts (shocks). The following is from CorvetteActionCenter.com: 1998-2003 Convertible: Trunk Door on Convertible Won't Open All The Way.

You didn't say how many pounds you would be adding to the lid. But, if you are only adding something like the underside mirror inserts, others here have reported that the stock struts will handle these fine. Also one way to raise the lid up a little further (with top and windows up) so as not to risk damage from prying is to shut one of your doors firmly.

Hope this helps.
