Just got myself my first Vette - 98 C5, and I'm having problems with the underhood light. Thought it was just the bulb burned out. Tried to replace it, and as I was putting in the bulb, it lit briefly, but never came on again, even after I fully installed it. Should I be checking for a switch somewhere, or is there something else I'm missing?
Check to see if you blew a fuse, if your vanity lights are not working and they used to work you may have blown a fuse. Also the reading lights on the inside rearview mirror come off the same circuit. The fuse is located under the passenger foot panel, I think it called inadvertent load.
There is a connector on the fan shroud (passengers side) that is often unpluged and could be loose. Give it a check and see if it is loose.

When I picked mine up, the light was out and couldn't figure out why. After the dealer put a new bulb in and still didn't work, we saw the connector was unplugged :o
