i have an idea that i would like to try that i need some feedback on
ok on almost every high performance import you see a grounding kit installed (grounding kit being about 5 large guage diameter wires connected together and tied in to the ground on the battery and the frame) the theory behind it is that if all components on a motor have a good strong ground at a central point they will work better in tandem with each other
i had one of these installed on my altima and it seemed to work just wondering if it will benefit a vette any
claims of
smoother idle
brighter headlights
5-10 hp
less engine and electrical noise
so what do you think
i have a whole bunch of 4 guage wire so it wouldnt cost much of nothing to do
any suggestions
I think you might have something, on my 68 vette, a bad battery effects the way it runs. The electrical system has always produced problems and the newer cars have a lot of electrical devices.
I always did this on any high power application, Ie, my jeep, and other cars with big audio aplication. I think these cars may be pretty well grounded due to the already high electric current that runs through them. I doubt in any applocation that you would pick up any real amount of Hp, but im sure it would make the car run smoother
Since you already have the wire, go ahead and do it. Pretend you're on Mythbusters. It certainly wouldn't hurt. Then you can document the changes and the performance improvements and let us all know if it's just a myth or not.
I seriously doubt 5-10 hp claim, but it certainly won't hurt anything. On old cars sometimes a better ground increased spark energy, and you could gain a little power from that. I doubt if there's any room in improving that in the vette, but could be wrong.
