Hey guys,
I flushed the brake fluid in my car the other day and noticed that the clutch fluid is also pretty dirty. How can I flush it? Looking at where the lines go it doesn't look very possible.... Thanks!
Unless you do A LOT of disassembly and open the bleeder on the slave cyl, all you will be able to do is suck all of the fluid out of the master Cyl with a syringe, turkey baster, or bulb syringe, wipe it out and refill it. It doesnt sound like much but some of the fluid in the line will exchange and you will end up doing it again in 2-3 months.
LAPD sells a bleeder extension that I have now but can't install until I do a clutch change or just pull the drive line. One of my few gripes with C5 engineering- wouldn't have killed them to put an accessible bleeder line in.
Here's a link to the procedure. I hope you're sitting down . . .
Cool. That doesn't look so bad. I was worried I'd actually have to remove the torque tube to bleed it. I'm just happy I can without removing the driveline!
You can keep your fluid clean by the turkey baster method, but that won't bleed air out of the lines. The LAPD extension is invaluable and I highly recommend it if you have your clutch replaced or engine out (meaning you can get to the bleed line to install the extension).
Bleeding the clutch without this is a major PITA. Takes hours.
