1214 is Solenoid Valve Relay Contact or Coil Open Circuit.

First step is to check or replace the underhood fuse.

Then test voltage rates at fuse and wiring on circuit 1242 (for damage). GM emphsizes (to me anyway) to check the wiring (for what caused the failure).

Then it indicates replaying as units the BVMP (Brake Pressure Modulator) and second the EBTCM (Elec. Brake Traction Module- relays are not servicable).

I believe GM List price is $882.95 + .7 hr labor + diagnostic charges. Probably could locate a used unit for around $200.
Dealer may decline to install it. This could be DIY job.

Default R and R

Remove and Replace. While on an extended fishing trip that was cut short, I'd left my C5 at a dealer for an inop window and no parking brakes. The dealer's diagnosis was wrong on both counts. I took the car home and repaired both items without buying any parts. Both were caused by improper assembly at the factory. I had an inop. active handling system and found a pin pushed out of a cannon plug. Codes are like sheep, sometimes they lie.

This is a long shot but it has helped quite a few forum members and it is "FREE"!!!

Check out my electrical system post and give it a try.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...al+information

You have a FRONT mounted EBTCU and the grounds for this unit use the chassis grounds that have a KNOWN corrosion problem.

I had the same issues with my 98 and after I cleaned my ground connectors it's been fine since!

I had the same exact problem on my '02. Don't know if some of the other (grounding corrosion, connector pin, etc...) suggestions would have fixed it, but I had it replaced by the dealer since it was still under warranty.

They charged GM $940+change, so this is in line with gtzy's post.

Good luck with the repair.

FYI, when the service writer told me the cost I was very surprised.Told him it was bad timing with Christmas coming. He then said let me talk to my boss about it.He called back and said I would only have to pay $200 for it instead of the original $1282.I don't know how it went down so much but I wasn't going to argue.
Thanks for all the input.

That's pretty interesting. Do you know if they replaced the EBTCM?

Congrats though, an early Christmas present from Chevy

It would be interesting to find out!

Even though the GM warrenty's are 3yr/360000miles anything to do with the emissions are 5yr/50000miles. Possible they found a loop hole there.

I looked at the paperwork a little more and it seems he did find a way to get the work done under warranty. It says $200 deductable on the paperwork. So if everything is true $200 and a gift basket I gave him for the work sounds like a great deal to me.
p.s But I did get my keys back without my remote which they said is always given back to the customer when they leave the keys.So I guess its $200 a gift basket and I buy a new remote for a new ebcm.
Best of all the wife is happy and she stays out of my vette.
