I know when rotors are changed GM recomends new caliper mounting bolts,& as stated on this forum ,a lot of you re-use the old ones by putting thread locker on the old bolts.The blue(med. strength) seems to be the liquid t. locker of choice here ,because its removeable, w/o heat aplication.My question is, did anyone try the high strength red Permatex automotive grade 27100 for this application.Permatex states heat to 500*f is the only way to remove fasteners when its cured.Is this really true or did someone out there in the Corvette Nation use it & applied muscle power alone (w/o heat) & removed it successfully?
I tried PTLock 27100 on a smaller bolt,nut & it came loose with a good degree of torque & no heat.But when I put on my sloted & drilled rotors I'm a little gun-shy,but maybe someone out there already did this test?
