Take a look at www.ls1howto.com

Gives a real good step by step instruction.

just did the install about 3 weeks ago... all i can say... EASY!!!!!

im no mechanic, and have only basic tools, and the job took me an afternoon, i think about 6 hours. seriously, its not bad at all. ls1howto.com gives you the idea.

the hardest part about the whole thing is getting the car in the air. the passenger side drops right in, no problem.

now the drivers side.... here is the hint: GET THE CAR VERY HIGH IN THE AIR!!!!!!!!!! trust me. i think i have some pics of how high i went with the car. once the front is high enough... the header slips right in. no struggle, no trying to wiggle it in, mine went right up, took a whole 2 minutes to get it in. i did have to remove 2 plugs though.

PM me if you have any questions, or want to see pics!!

have fun, good luck, and ENJOY THEM!!!

And when the car is high, please make sure you are well supported and not on just the jack. Sorry if this sounds condescending but someone who frequented our local cruise nights just had a car fall on him and was killed. Good luck with you install

Use the sims or do the delete from the PCM, that way you will ahve no codes or chek engine light on. I have the sims for over 8mos now woith no probs. or codes.

I am just in the process of installing SuperMaxx LT headers. I have found the forum members along with the LS1Howto very helpful. I am taking more time than I need to, but like to stop, clean and polish ,everything before I put it back. I have removed the stock H pipe underneath and have also removed the passenger side stock manifold and installed the headers on that side. So far everything has gone just as advertised. I did get a little anxious and did not torque the starter before tightening up the passenger side header. It looked like I could get a wrench on it with no problem. Not the case. I could get a wrench on it but not with enough room to get it to 37 ft./lbs. I'm hoping that a wobbly socket or crows foot wrench will allow me to do that. I am having a great time with this project and hope it will continue to go as well as it has. Remember, it's just nuts and bolts! If I can do it, anybody can. Good Luck.

Installed my LG Longtube Headers a couple of weeks ago too. Just follow the instructions on LS1 How To website posted at the top earlier. The only problems I had were two bolts. The rear drivers side header bolt (took me hours to get it off, didn't have anything that would reach it and stay on it) and the bolt that holds the passenger side AIR Tube on. It is located on the back of the block. I spent hours trying to shift the intake manifold like it says to do on the LS1 website. Finally said screw it and took it off. Made it easier, but I never did find an easy way to get to this bolt. It fastens the passenger side air tube bracket to the block. Other than those two bolts, my install was pretty easy and fun. I had my car up about 19 inches on jackstands like it shows on the LS1 How To website. I had to move the clutch line up and over to get the drivers side header in. The passenger side went right in. The starter wants to hold it up, but just jam it. Mine went right in. When you're finished and crank it up for the first time, you won't be able to stop grinning. Then, take it for a drive. You'll definately be grinning. Good luck with the install.

thks for replies, one thing with the sims,i was told 4 codes will be broken when you disconnect the front sensors, and the sims only look after two.is this true, even with the sims on you still get the engine light????also is it a good idea to but a new starter in as at this stage she is right out in the open,or do starters last a long time.
