Default Oil pressure after mods

Just got the Z back from Andy's AFR heads and Comp cam (224-228) Car is a rocket and tuned perfect.
But I'm seeing 80 PSI (OIL PRESSURE) holding the car in 4th gear flat out......car ildes at 39-40 and hits 55 under normal driving
Should I be concerned with this kind of pressure, before the heads and cam I never notice that much pressure

What's the oil temp? or weight? Seems high, mine idles at @35, and normal driving nets 40. (When the oil heats up, about 155 degrees +) I have a cam and headers. TTT for ya!!!

What weight oil did Andy put back into your motor? 15/50? or 5/30?

vetterlatethannever
Oil temps are around 200 hot and 155-165 after sitting for a awhile
VETERDSTR
want to say 5-30, but I'll be contacting him on Monday to check out the whole situation.

While making a pass I notice 1-3rd sees around 65-70 PSI
but holding 4th pegs the gauge
Other then that the car is a animal, especially in 3rd

Definately give him a call, this seems a little abnormal to me. I'd love to check my gauge for you but in this wet weather here in S. Texas right now I could't run WOT if I wanted too!!

are you sure they didn't port your stock oil pump or install a brand new one during the cam install? I recently had a ported ls6 pump installed and see 50psi at idle and up to 80+ at 6K and wot. Every tech I've talked to said thats a good thing and nothing to be concerned with. Just make sure you warm up the oil sufficiently before blasting on it.

You will know if there's a problem. If for some reason pressure stops building or worst yet, backs off under wot, then get it looked at. You should get at minimum 10psi for every 1000rpm, at least 60 at 6K. Anything additional is gravy.
