Ok, if you don't want to buy the CCW package, what are you running if you have 26" ET Streets (DOT slicks). Retaining the stock front tires make the C5 hard to control at the top end of the track. You really have to use your b u t t to feel the car getting out of the line and slowly steer her back in.
For a high 10-sec run at 127, its kinda ok....but I'm headed for more mph and lower ET, and don't feel this combination is very safe. There has to be a better way? HELP!!!
I guess you want to run a factory wheel with a et street tire on the rear. I think LG motorsports is running a weld racing 15'' drag lite on the front of there car. Then you can run a front bias ply tire so you have a matching set of compounds. But i don't know how they make them fit.
Good point, best case would be to retain the factor appearing front. I have the ET on a repo factory appearing wheel.
So that makes this a little harder, actually unrealistic....I don't think there is a front runner to go on a 17x8.5 front rim. Guess that CCW package is not that expensive afterall eh?
You can't put radials on the front of a car running bias ply's in the back. The transient response of the two different tire constructions causes issues. You could bias plys on the front, and radials on the rear and be ok though.
Anyhow, the tire we use on CCWs is a Firestone bias ply 16x5.00 (looks like VW or vintage racing tire) on a 16" front runner.
No other options besides a bias ply if you run bias ply on ther rear.
