Default DIC Defaults...Battery?

Each morning when I start the Z06, I notice the DIC has reset itself to the defaults...odometer showing. I normally leave it on Oil Temp.
When I run it during the day, it remains at the new settings of Oil Temp when restarting.

I believe this must be a battery issue as the battery is coming up to 4 years use.

Does that make sense?

Is the Red Optima a good selection for a replacement... I like the red since I have a red/red Z06 with engine custom red.

Thanks,
Bob

Yes, the Red Top is an excellent replacement choice.

BTW, have you tried setting the memory? If your car has it, and you have set if for driver number 1, then try setting for driver number 2. Mine seems to default to driver 2, and while I am not certain that the DIC settings are stored, mine does NOT default to the odometer.

Yes, it's the FOB settings.

Set all your guages, A/C, Radio/CD, seat position, mirror position
to where you want it to default. Press and hold the 1 or 2 on the
door switches to match the FOB number.

This will set your defaults.

Take a look at the DTC'c storred in your DIC. You will more than likley find a lot of LDCM, RDCM ect ect "loss of communications" error codes. That indicates that your battery voltage is dropping LOW when you start your car. When you first turn the key and turn on the starter you draw a LOT of amps out of the battery. Voltage is inversly proportional to current! For a very brief period the reserve voltage drops below 9 volts. As the starter starts to rotate you draw less amps and the voltage goes back up to level to allow the modules to function again. As the weather get colder a lot more people will be posting on this issue!
When the voltage drops low you loose some of your storred info. A new battery should fix this problem!

If you get a Optima make sure you purchase it from a place that will NOT give you a hastle if you need to bring it back! I had mine for 4 months and it went south! I drive my ZO6 a lot so it was NOT from letting it sit and I DID NOT leave anything on causing it to go dead!

Just got a BAD one! I got mine from AutoZone. No problem taking it back!

Default Its the battery

I tried resetting the memory(both) several times, but still was getting the default settings on the DIC. I suspected the battery, so went to Sears and got the Red Top Optima.
This morning checked and its ok now.
4 years on a battery is probably about it for the OEM model.

Thanks all!
