Intake track air leaks cause this problem If any air is getting past the MAF and is entering the intake tract, this code can be set. Remove your entire air filter system from the throttle body forward, bench it and check every connection for tightness.
How would this code effect the running of the car ?
Thank You
A lean air fuel mixture will build power and run great right up to the point were you fry the pistons!
If the motor runs too lean you will burn the pistons!!
Don't ask me how I know.
I've got the same codes. 0171 0174. I have a thread in Scan and tune as well trying to come to a conclusion. Mine only pops up occasionally at idle. Thats it. Once in a while and only at idle. I put on a halltech stinger. I have a predator and am soliciting advice on what to adjust to eliminate the codes.
I had the same code and was told by someone who knows a heck of a lot more about this stuff than I do, to look for leaks between the MAF and throttle body. It turned out to be that the bridge was separated from the MAF, on the underside, and out of sight. Hooked it up and was good to go. It's worth a look see.
