Lowering F55 on 2004
Andy at A&A has already confirmed there is no more room on stock bolts and that front bushings will need to be cut. This seems to be the right time (labor costs considered) to do the Bilstine sport shocks (what Andy reccommends).
Has anybody done this? Are you happy? Are there any problems (other than codes that will need to be edited out)? Are my super duper magnetic whatever they are called shocks worth anything used (25k miles)?
Thanks for any advise and info.....
I've lowered mine as far as they will go on the stock bolts with no ill effects - not as slammed as it could be, but no problems with the ride either. Good luck!

You're going to be way too cool to want to have those degrading shocks hanging around your garage! In fact, I'll just pick them out of Andy's dumpster; that will really impress the wife, no more used parts cluttering up her garage

I was going to start another account so you wouldn't know it was me....I knew you would see this...
I don't know if the Bilstine's will actually ride better than the F55/Mag shocks. I just know that Andy is going to charge the same labor to lower it as to add new shocks so its the right time. He is concerned about the lowering causing the F55/Mag to bottom out. But obviously this hasn't been a problem for you....although your springs may be a factor.
I actually have no complaints on how it handles right now. The only problem is I got to get it LOWER!!!!!
If I switch to Bilstein Sports....will the ride be Too Stiff.
Read somewhere that need resistors/or tech II to clear codes...can I remove the F55 control module and replace with F45 or is this necessary?
Thanks
It's me again, the guy trying to get that F55 setup from you. Anyway, regarding lowering, I got the longer bolts and lowered the rear, only to discover that I ran out of travel and the suspension bottomed out quite a bit. I backed up to the shortest I can go with the longer bolts, and thinking I need to go back to the stock bolts. Admittedly I have the F45 setup, just another $.02 for you.
One other thing is that the Z06 ride is so much better because they have more travel, FWIW.

You can have my wife but you cannot have my car or any part of it!!!
Seriously why do you think poor JIM is having bottoming out problems and you are not. Please share....you are lowered but have 19 inchers and Z06 springs, cut front bushings on stock rear bolts...right/I think?
Why didn't you go with the Bilstins??
Love ya.......

JIM...I havn't forgot you...I have been busy and need to make up my friggin mind about keeping the F55 or going to the Bilstins. It will happin in the next 2-3 weeks.

I have absolutely no interest in your wife, even though she thinks she's your GF and "bought" your car, my only interest is in your car and its parts!!
Further commentary on my perfect setup is proprietary, afforded to you only on a negotiated basis. That means:
HAND OVER THOSE F55 SHOCKS DUDE!!
