Default Corsa vs Borla vs ???

I’m a NEWBEE, 1st Vette, 10 Nov, from Kerbeck. I’ve always regarded Borla as the #1 name in after market exhaust, but the more I read the CF, the more I realize that Corsa may be the way to go.
I prefer an aggressive exhaust sound during hard acceleration. My C6 exhaust is way too tame for me. Any info would be appreciated on your experience: Sound at idle, sound at acceleration, sound at cruise, resonance etc. I work in DC but live in VA Bch., a 3.5 hr drive on Mon and Fri. Being an old Navy guy, I’m a little hard of hearing so the loud doesn’t bother me too much. However I don’t want to look like a 20 yr old hotshot either.

Sounds like you would probably like the Corsa Pace Car system. Your choices may be limited for a C6 though. I think your best bet is to re-post in C6 General (versus C5 Tech).

IB4TL!

My advice on your C6, wait until GHL has an exhaust system for your 2005 Corvette! Love the GHL Bullets on my C5...

I highly suggest you consider the Borla Stinger. I was considering the Corsa setup for my Z06 until I heard it on another Vette. At idle the thing sounds like a Chris Craft motorboat. It is a very nasty sound to me. I know a lot of guys seem to like this system, but I have never understood how they could since I heard it in person.

I also did not like the sound of the Corsa on accel. It has a very prominent midrange tone which leaves it sounding a little hollow to me. Obviously it is a matter of taste...the Corsa is a high quality piece in terms of its fit and finish, but the sound leaves me wanting.

The Borla comes the closest to what my ears like to hear. A nice bassy rumble at idle and also an agressive growl on accel. The Borla also does well in the interior resonance area.

I highly reccomend that you hear one in person before you purchase it just to make sure that it is what you want.

agree..I get many compliments on my Borla system and really enjoy the deep rumbling sound. At HWY speeds you really cant hear it but then when you get in to the throttle, you can tell its there. Its really a matter of personal preference but you wont be disappointed with the borla system. good luck shipmate

Obviously a matter of personal preference since I've heard many systems and wouldn't trade my Corsa's for any of them.

Corsa was most popular 3 years ago, but the Borla Stinger cat-back has since taken over the number 1 spot (based upon what I've seen in this forum and locally). The Stinger idle sound is nothing short of awesome, yet without your engine having a huge cam, its sound is not obnoxious. I think it's just right.

Borla just started shipping and Corsa is a month or 2 off for the C6. Just wanted to get some input from you C5 folks who have experienced both. Thanks for your input in helping a Newbee.

Hey JFT - if you ever get down to Pax River, you can probably arrange to hear the deep rumble of my GHL's on an otherwise stock Corvette C5...

I'd like to hear your baby. Thanks for the invite. Used to go to PAX every 2 mos. Changer jobs last year and don't get down there much. Really enjoyed the tobacco sheds along MD 234. Guess that’s gone already.
What’s the MOD you list? Mod: Cleartastic. Is that the 3M clear plastic on the front and behind the wheels? I’m going to do that.

Sorry - yes - Cleartastic makes the clear protectors for the mirrors and rocker panels. I knew there was something on my list to update yesterday! I'll update that for 'ya... Unfortunately, most of the Cleartastic is still in its original packaging on a shelf in my garage!

I was on the fence for a while between the two. I went with the Corsa Pace Car and have never regretted the decision. I love the sound and with the Xpipe I don't have any motor boat sound at idle, no resonance, but WOT it wakes up the neighbors!!

JTF,
I put Corsa Indy's on my 2004, and I think they are just great. Next is QTP headers, I think next week, and we'll see then.

I put Borlas on my 5.0 Mustang and they were OK - I put Corsa Indys on my 02 Vette and they were great - no resonance - but they were even better after Stainless Works long tube headers and an X pipe. My opinon only - this is very subjective.

Love my borla's. After researching for over a year, the borla's won. I listened to every exhaust out there and the borla one hands down. Deep and bassy (is that a word?) at idle, mild and tame cruising, and they absolutely scream when you get on them. I can't wait to get the headers on it.
