Default Blackwing Vs RamAir one more time

I have measured the air pressure at various speeds at the front bumper of the C5.
I have measured the air temperature at various locations under the hood of the C5.
I have measured the MAF from Ram Air at various speeds.

Results:
I was able to create 6 inches (0.25psi) of water at 100mph at the filter when ducting air from the License plate opening directly to the blackwing.

At 60MPH I saw no benefit with RAM AIR over the natural Blackwing.

At 100MPH the Air pressure indicates 4 or 5 HP over the natural Blackwing.

I found little meaningful increase in MAF vs RPM at 60mph and over. My track times did not show any substantial increase, perhaps 1mph (119mph).

Once the C5 is moving at say 20MPH there is no advantage to having heat extractor hoods or baffles to isolate the air box. The under the hood temperature is ambient. However at park or slow idle you may have a benefit.

The best place to ram air is through the license plate, which is dead center or at the maximum acceleration of the air mass. The fog light vents are a less effective alternative and may draw air at speeds over 100MPH.

But then again I could be wrong, and I’m sure many will think so.

It looks like you have an imitation of the Halltech Tunnelram, which is installed in conjunction with a TRAP intake. I've always said that this path of cold air is certainly the most direct. The problem for many C5 owners is that it detracts from the smooth appearance of the front facia.

Thanks for the data!

You’re most welcome:

I see no significant Ram Air effect possible with the HallTech. Using the word Trap is a misnomer as there is no TRAP that could build pressure and hence improve the Mass Air Flow at speed, which is contrary to my installation.

I did not use the word COLD. Remember the air temperature under the hood at speed is already ambient.

I believe that the Blackwing is the best option for every day driving. If you look at the time of installation and quality/performance, it is a no brainer. With the Z06 you have plenty of cold air for the Blackwing to draw from through the direct air intake on the front fascia. Also, it does not throw any codes on my 04 Z06!

that's interesting.
I wonder how much usuable benefit 0.25psi gives ?
