Make sure the 1 7/8's are the right application. Usually the 1 3/4's are the preferred - with the flow and long tubes bigger diameter is not always better.
I have the same question. I am considering LGM LT headers. I think I will go with a free flow cat (to keep it legal). Will I need an X-pipe to make it all fit?
Also there is lots of LT header options. I am looking for the most HP gains I can get (otherwise why do it)? What kind of gain can I expect from the above setup? Should I be considering others (for higher gains).
You won't need an X pipe to make it fit. The Xpipe smooths out the flow of the exhaust somewhat and eliminates any burbling and popping you may have when you get done. The CATs on our cars are not that restrive to eliminate them for power sake only if you really want more noise.
I purchased a Stainless Works complete exhaust. SS LT headers, Random tech CAT's Stainless 3" mid section with an "X" pipe and stainless 3" stainless mufflers.
I too was concerned about a TOO LOUD system and even more concerned about resonance. The system is PREFECT! It sounds great at idle and has a mean snarl at WOT!!!
