Installed the Dynatech Supermaxx headers yesterday on the Z. Great quality product. Instructions were pretty thorough. As other posts have indicated working on the 02 sensors is very tedious. Two club members helped with the install. A big thank you to Wally and David of Queen City Corvette Club. They had installed the same system on David's C5 the weekend before so they were already experienced. Wally has a lift and the garage of all garages.
The sound is awesome even with the stock titanium mufflers. I could feel the difference in power on the first couple full throttle passes. Can't wait to try it out at VIR in February.
Next mod is a blackwing and then LS1 edit. I'm giving Santa my list.
Phil, I just finished installing my Dynatechs this weekend. I was wondering about a couple of things. 1. Did you put anti-seize on the spark plugs and the O2 sensors? and 2. How did you position the four clamps. I put mine with the bolts on the bottom and was wondering if they would fit with the bolts on the side? I have started mine and checked for leaks. Everything seems to be fine. Can't wait to get a good day to try them out. Right now we have about 3" of snow on the ground and it is still snowing.
I recently installed my headers as well (another brand though). The service manual specifies anti-seize on the O2 sensors. I got a hold of the dealer and they didn't stock the specified part. One dealer I went to called in a mechanic who showed me what he uses. It stated right on the back of the bottle (GM anti-seize) not to use it on O2 sensors. I found that there is a anti-seize "stick" made by Permatex and sold at Autozone that is O2 sensor safe and was about $6. The dealer stuff (the correct part) was $32 for a small bottle
