I agree that false or exaggerated advertising claims are a serious problem and I don't think the FTC is going to be doing anything about it soon. So we're on our own and we have to help each other determine what's good and what's not. That's what this forum is for. However, I've seen some disturbing reactions to people who ask these questions. There was a recent thread about the "Turbonator" asking if it was good or not and the poor guy got totally flamed for being an idiot, instead of just saying "I tried it and it's ".

Let's not forget what this forum is for and try to be understanding of someone with a legit question even if it seems stupid to you. Not everybody has tried all these things or even heard of them before and they don't know what to believe, including myself. So we come to this forum to find out.

Exactly, RObvuk Makes an excellent point. I'm always amazed the amount of loyalty these vendors and part makers have... They are in business to MAKE MONEY first and foremost... No problem there... But do you think that maybe they have incentive to make claims about their products to generate MORE sales? Members here (And on other boards) should be able to ask questions or question claims made by a vendor without fear of getting hammered or flamed... I'm still wondering WHERE the moderators on this board are... as I've seen a number of posts go horribly south and then... Just end up locked... No warnings to the offenders, no nothing, other than the implication that such behavior is allowed and encouraged.

This forum should be here for us to come and ask questions and compare experiences... But more often than not, especially with my own experience from some members verbally bashing me, I don't post much because it isn't worth the BS...And I'd venture to say I've done more to my Vette myself (I don't let others work on my cars at all) in 1 year than many do the whole ownership of theirs. How many others read this site and could contribute, but choose not to because of the flaming?

Vendors are vendors.. They are making a living selling parts... Buy from them, but don't be their cheerleader... They just took your money and gave you a part that you HOPE will do what they claim... Nothing more. So I'm not concerned about lost revenue.. That is their problem. If we don't buy their parts, or if we do, test them, and find them NOT to meet the claims they advertise, maybe they will clean up their acts... Which is the goal in the first place, right? Honest representation before YOU or I crack open the wallet and plunk our cash down for said merchandise.

Off Rant!

Mike
