Default AMW catch can install...pics

All,

I hadn't seen any pics of AMW's head mounting bracket here on the forum so I figured I'd show them. Just installed this unit the other day so we'll see how it works out. The bracket is sold separately (bought my bracket through MTI) and is attached to the head with supplied socket cap screws.

Enjoy the pics....

Here is a link to their site if you haven't seen them yet: http://www.accmachtech.com/pcvcatchcans.htm

Nice set up...Really like the location with the bracket. Did you make that bracket yourself. I just bought a AMW can and was deciding where to place it. Curious as to why you put the PCV valve before the can. Does it matter if it's downstream of the can ( just before the throttle body)?? thanks.

How much did it cost, total?

And is it worth it?

Looks good. I did one too. I have the clear anodized. put mine up in front of the radiator wall and on the frame. I put it there in an effort to keep it cool so the gases would precipitate better. I don't know if it works any better but it does look cool there.

Unless I'm having a brain fart I believe the can goes between the PCV valve and the intake.

I have the same set up from MTI, and yes it works. My catch can always has some oil in it, which is good. That oil would have sucked into the intake.

I also have a AMW can and according to them PCV "valve" can go on either side of the can. If you read their instructions/diagram carefully they dont show the valve.

Hey pewter, first off very nice looking ride!! Did you use a T type fitting to tape into the two lines or ? there is a hose over a hose that would show the pictures of how you accessed the connection point, look like a very clean install.

Thanks for the compliment.

This picture shows the connections a little better. The upper hose goes to the outlet side of the PCV valve....the lower hose goes to where the PCV used to connect to the intake. Hope this helps.

pdd000,

Yeah, I talked the with Jayson (from MTI) about the catch can. He says that they seem to work quite well for cars that have lots of blow-by....BUT...you will still have an oil film in the intake regardless as they are not perfect. I'm curious to see how mine looks in several hundred miles.....

Would it be possible to place the can lower, with longer hoses, thereby allowing gravity to help...?

I would assume, but I'm not postive, that the oil we're talking about is in vapor form. If so, it is being carried by the air for the most part, i.e. not necessarily running down the inner surface of the tubes. Someone posted that keeping the can cooler may help which seems to make sense. It certainly doesn't stay cool mounted to the head.

Default can

Yes i have the amw catch can with a bracket to mount it to the head but the more i read this thread the more sense it is starting to make to relocate the mounting spot hum! vapor ya gravity ya temp at location ya i like this lower colder longer tubes thing seems it would be alot harder for oil [or vapors] to make its way back to the intake thats what this forum is all about food for thought great suff here guys!!!!! Gush iam having fun!!
