Hey all,
My reverse lights on my 6-speed 98 c5 do not come on when I put the car in reverse :-( They do however come on when I use unlock from my key fob, so I know they work. Does anyone know where the sensor or switch is located on the tranny that is activated when I put it in reverse? I went under there today but I could not find any that looked like it would do that. Thanks in advance for your help
The reverse light switch is on the passenger side of the transmission. I got one from autozone a little north of $10. Mine was doing the same as yours, Key remote could activate the lights, but putting into reverse would not. It actually took longer to jack the back end of the car up, put safety jack stands under than change the switch.

Good luck

..And don't forget about the associated fuse.. It will usually blow when the transmission switch fails. So if the lights still don't work after changing the switch, check it.

So I picked up the switch at Discount Auto today and it was $15. They call it a neutral/reverse safety switch. As i was putting it in my hand kept cramping up because of the location of it and how I could only turn it about 1/4 of a turn each time, but it’s in and works like it should. I didn’t have to replace the fuse but that is a very good tip and I bet I would not have thought of it :-) Thanks for all the help!
