wrapping headers for noise reduction
I read about this in an old post, can someone give me more info? I am guessing you would use thermo-tec wrap? Does it greatly reduce valve train noise?

I would assume it would help some in noise reduction but I have also read in previous posts that wrapping the headers also keeps in moisture and will adversely aid in rusting the headers.....just a thought.
(tucson az) I was really hoping to bring some of the valve train noise under control.

Are you sure it's valvetrain noise? I always assumed that the ticking that we hear is from the injectors. In either case, how would wrapping the headers reduce valvetrain noise? I'm not trying to be a jerk about this, I just don't understand.

Tried it before, it doesn't affect the sound noticably.
All it does it make your car stink everytime you drive it. Smelled like burning.
Not to mention the HUGE pain it is to wrap headers or exhaust.

Wrapping headers...
My concern is wrapping headers with a material that's porous (even if the material is non flammable) that will soak up gas or oil and ignite, and I hate the smell of burning Corvettes!
