I have the MTP-78 should I change it? Will it leak acid on the computer and wiring? I went to Interstate's website, but it does not say if it is a AGM battery, opinions please.
Let me clarify myself. I just recently put a new Interstate battery in my C4. It was highly rated by consumer reports. The C5 I just purchased has a Delco replacement battery that was installed 2 years ago. Should I swap the two batteries (C$ Interstate to C5 Delco) since I believe the C4 doesn't have electronics sitting under the battery tray?
I had a problem a couple years ago in our 2000 Tahoe with the original battery springing a leak...what a mess. It was replaced under warranty and the dealer assured me that the older Delcos had some problems, but the one that was replaced in the Tahoe should be trouble free.
I sure don't want to take any chances. What do you all think?
Thanks for the replies people. I just want to know if anyone know how the Interstate batteries are made? I probally will get a new one since the battery is getting to be 4 years old.
Cajung - The AGM is Absorbent (SP) Glass Matt. Suppose to be un-leakable.
Looks like a red top for me. Who has them for cheaper installed?
Just shop around locally for the optima and install it yourself. It takes about 5 minutes to switch it out.
Dry Cell is the only way to go in a C5 - big problems if you have a wet battery leak.
I do run a Interstate MTP-91 in my M3, not sure if it's a agm but it's in the trunk so a leak wouldn't really harm anything. It would just drain out the bottom of the car.
My C5 and C4 run optima's and I am completely satisfied with them

Interstate Battery Stores/Distributors carry/sell the Optimas.
