Please help! I have a 2001 AT C5 with 75,000 miles. I bought it about 4 months ago and had what I thought was a pinging noise. The harmonic balancer was replaced along with all the belts right away under warranty and the noise went away. Now that the car is out of warranty, I have on two occasions, in the last couple of months, a metallic clinking noise on the driver side in the engine compartment when the car is at idle...the sound is like rattling a set of keys and it continues even if I stop and restart the car. The sound goes away once the car is warmed up....does anybody knows what could have caused this noise? In addition, I was driving the other day on the highway with a half tank of gas and the warning lights came on and my fuel gauge read empty. I filled the car up and it continues to read empty with warning light until I pushed the reset button on the control panel then the guage worked fine since. Does this indicate a possible problem with my sensor? Thanks ahead for your assistance.

Reason: Wrong Year
I'm not sure about the engine noise but one of your fuel sensors is going! Common problem but expensive to fix! I had mine done at 20,000 & 30,000 miles! Do a search and you will find a ton of posts on this subject!
It could be one of the belt idler bearing or tensioner bearing.
Since out of warranty with the engine off carefully/ carefully spray some silicon lube (comments - that's what I would use anyway) on a bearing (only the bearing!) then start the engine and repeat until you have ruled all the bearings out.
