clutch chatter
i own a 04 6-speed conv., have some clutch chatter taking off in first, occasionally in 2nd, more prodominant after driving awhile. dealer told me was a normal noise due to tranny located in rear and being incased in a tube causing some sound. they let me pick another off lot to test for similar sound, and it did, but not quite as loud. looking for a 2nd opinion, anyone have any info, would be a great help. thanks

If the noise your talking about is what I'm thinking, yes it is normal. If you bog the motor off the line in first you'll hear the gears in the tranny clatter around. My corvette came with an owners manual/video, and they actually had a segment showing a vette start in first from a stop to show how the tranny will make that noise and it is normal. Also, a small amount of vibration is also normal when you're letting the clutch out. Worried about it, I asked my local GM shop if my flywheel was warped, and they said right away, " oh no that's actually normal, just one of the quirks about the C5"
