Went to the dealer to pic up the axle seals, diff fluid and posi additive and got sticker shock when it came to over $100! The main cuplret being the synthetic gear oil. I would imagine even Redline would be cheaper and seems to be a fine alternative from what I have read (comes with or without posi additive).
Redline is $6.50 a quart - with additive - where I buy it. Expensive seals? Can't the lube being more than $10 a quart even with huge markup...good luck...Bill
The gear oil was $30+/qt. Maybe I got charged for a 2 gallons? Think I will be returning them and the posi additive and picking up some redline. the seals were ~$15 each which is average.
Even AMSOIL's best Series 2000 75w90 (which is what I use for racing) is only $9.20 a quart retail, about 20% less for preferred customers. This comes with friction modifier in it.

No, the main culprit is that you bought the stuff from a dealership and probably didn't shop around. If you have to use a dealership I would have tried one of the supporting dealerships like Ken Fichtner.

I would double check with Parts Manager at dealership. That cost is so far out of line that the mark up even for a dealership is to high. I use royal purples product with additive is 7.50 a quart. So 2 will do with some left over.
I did the same stupid thing, and yes that's what Mr. Goodrip charges.
My brother (who owns a NAPA store) let me know he had the same synthetic stuff for about 10 times cheaper

I'm sure Ken or Fred (Beans) would have it at a MUCH more reasonable price but I needed it soon. Luckily I was not able to complete the reassembly of the diff and have not cracked open the bottles yet.
