Default Water Pump Question HELP PLEASE

I have a 99 coupe with 160 degree stat with the fans reprogrammed. Cruising the car temp is 186 consistently. But when idleing the temp will go to 208, but if I raise the idle from 750rpm to 1000rpm the temp will drop to 192 very rapidly.

Is this a sign that water pump is going out?
Thanks inadvance for your help.

What are you fans set at..

I wouldn't think your having a problem with the pump.. It's belt driven and runs at engine speed -- runs it faster and the more it pumps.

The radiator is sized for a Miata motor, so it really takes airflow from driving to cool it down. I have a big radiator, but even with temps in the 40's and my 2nd fan set to 188 degrees, I still got my coolant temps to 208 by revving my motor at 2K rpm's with the car stopped.

Your car and pump are fine..the numbers you are seeing are consistent with typical values.
your 160 stat only controls how cold your engine will run, it has nothing to do with how hot it runs.

I agree. Are you sure your water/coolant level is full?

And no air bubbles in the cooling system?

Look under the front of the AC condenser if you haven't yet. I find a lot of stuff up there every year when I clean it.
