Maybe I have a problem . maybe not. I have a 2002 6sp w/12k miles on it. I purchased it used and It's in like new condition not even a chip in the paint. My clutch pedal ingages near the upper portion of it's travel. Is this normal? I'm not having any problems just concerns. I have always had vets from the 60s (61,62,66,) and always adjusted them to grab near the floor. But with my C5 the clutch is hydraulic with no adjustment. I'm think my clutch is normal but input from other owners is always good. Thanks for you're time.....
It is my understanding that the clutch is suppose to engage 1.5" to 2" off floor.I just replaced my clutch/slave cyl with OEM and bled system. It engages at that point now.
Previously it engaged much higher.
Prior to replacement I removed the flywheel inspection cover to check the disc etc. The disc measured 2mm of thickness vs 3mm new.Since it did not appear the disc was worn excessively, did not feel high pedal engagement was due to worn disc.
There is an adjustment to the pressure plate. Mine was at the end of adjustment. I attempted to adjust pressure plate per service manual but could not get any of the 3 adjusters to move.
Since it was a newly acquired car with 64k mi & an unkown history, went ahead and replaced.
My feelings are that checking/adjusting the adjusters on pressure plate and/or bleeding system and/or condition of slave cyl may have more of an effect on engagement height of clutch pedal.
